Further Weapons

As students’ progress, teachers should aim to develop their existing skills and push them towards an advanced level of technique and performance in a range of fighting systems. The objective should be to produce a fully rounded and adaptable fight performer, able to work with a wide range of weapon systems and performance styles. Secondly, to produce performers with a sufficient level of technical mastery, control and understanding that they would be of great value to fight directors in the profession when working with less able actors or in the role of fight captain or featured fight performer.

Under our new system, once a student has acquired their standard level, they can begin to focus on and be examined in different weapon systems. These weapons will be examined at a higher level and requirements for passing stricter. Should a student gain two Distinctions in any two further weapons qualifications they would be considered an Intermediate fighter and once the gain four Distinctions, they'll be recognised by the Academy as an Advanced fighter

Intermediate

  • Once a student has achieved Distinctions in 2 weapon systems they can be classified as an Intermediate BADC Actor Combatant.

  • Certification consolidations are recorded in their online TCR.

  • All individual weapon qualifications are valid for 4 years.

Advanced

  • Once a student has achieved Distinctions in 4 weapon systems (one of which must be advanced unarmed) they can be classified as an Advanced BADC Actor Combatant.

  • Certification consolidations are recorded in their online TCR.

  • All individual weapon qualifications are valid for 4 years.
